Gianyar's "Elephant Cave"

The popular tourist attraction of Goa Gajah is located about 4 km east of the center of Ubud. Dating back to the 11th century, the ruins comprise a temple, several monuments and shrines, ancient pathing pools, and the famous "Elephant Cave". Goa Gajah is an important Hindu archaeological site and was added to the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List in 1995.

  • Famous spot near Ubud

This is my first time to come to Bali. The relief of cave entrance is awesome. I wonder why ancient people designed such a fantastic relief! I recommend to take your time to walk around the forest behind the cave.
